PDF rotation is fundamentally different from rotating an image in Photoshop or Preview. Inside a PDF file, every page carries a small piece of metadata called the rotation flag — a number that tells any PDF viewer how many degrees the page should be displayed at: 0, 90, 180, or 270. When you rotate a PDF page with a proper tool, that flag changes. The actual page content — text objects, fonts, embedded images, hyperlinks, vector drawings — is not touched at all.
