Convert PDF to Word (DOCX)
Last updated: February 24, 2026
Converting PDF to Word is the most common way to make a PDF editable. Whether you need to update text in a contract, repurpose content from a report, or edit a resume, converting to .docx gives you full editing power in Microsoft Word, Google Docs, or any word processor. OneClickPDF offers multiple conversion approaches — a free text-extraction mode, an image-based mode for perfect visual fidelity, and an optional premium mode powered by Adobe's industry-leading engine.
Upload your PDF
Drag and drop your PDF file onto the upload area, or click to browse. The file stays on your device during free conversion modes.
Choose a conversion mode
Select Standard (free text extraction with formatting), Image Mode (free, preserves exact visual layout as images), or Premium ($2, Adobe's engine for the best editable results with tables, columns, and styles intact).
Preview the result
See a side-by-side comparison of your original PDF and the converted Word document. Check that the formatting, text, and layout meet your needs before downloading.
Download your Word document
Click download to save the .docx file. Open it in Microsoft Word, Google Docs, LibreOffice Writer, or any compatible word processor to start editing.

Technical Details
OneClickPDF offers three conversion approaches. Standard mode uses pdfjs-dist (Mozilla PDF.js) to extract text content, position data, and font information from the PDF, then reconstructs it as a structured .docx file using the docx library. Image mode renders each page as a high-resolution image and embeds them in a Word document — preserving exact visual appearance but without editable text. Premium mode sends the PDF to Adobe PDF Services API, which uses OCR, machine learning, and Adobe's proprietary layout analysis to produce the highest-quality editable conversion with proper tables, columns, headers, footers, and styles. Free modes run entirely client-side; premium mode processes on Adobe's servers.

PDF to Word conversion quality depends heavily on the document type and the conversion engine used.
